Our Office

As founder and member of the law firm of Calhoun Law Group, LLC in Albany, Georgia, I have received the highest peer-review AV rating from Martindale-Hubble and have been recognized in Georgia Super Lawyers.

My practice focuses on business, governmental and health care law, but encompasses a wide variety of practice areas, including contract negotiation, corporate work, civil litigation, estate and probate work (including wills and trusts), the representation of clients before state regulatory agencies and licensing agencies, and insurance coverage disputes.

I am also a registered mediator and am available to mediate a wide variety of civil disputes, given my diverse background and scope of accomplishments.

I attended both college and law school at the University of Georgia, and prior to the establishment of Calhoun Law Group, LLC in 2012, I practiced in both private law firms and the public sector.

Upon graduating with honors from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1987, I worked in the Atlanta, Georgia general civil litigation practices of Mayer, Nations & Perkerson and, later, Cohen, Asbell, & Stribling. Subsequently, I served as an Assistant Attorney General at the Georgia Department of Law, also in Atlanta, where my practice focused on the representation of both the Department of Community Health and the Department of Insurance, but also included representation of the University System of Georgia and the Board of Education. I was the primary attorney responsible for Georgia’s certificate of need program and the Department of Insurance, handling administrative hearings, civil litigation, administrative rule making, and general representation of these regulatory agencies.

Immediately prior the establishment of Calhoun Law Group, I was a member of the law firm of Langley & Lee, LLC in Albany, Georgia, where my practice focused on business, governmental and health care law. My clients included a large not-for-profit hospital system and its PHO, as well as independent physician and ancillary practices, and numerous business and individuals throughout the state. Also, I continued my representation of the State of Georgia as a Special Assistant Attorney General representing the Commissioner of Insurance and the Professional Standards Commission.

I have participated in a number of civic and professional organizations, including the Georgia State Bar (former chair of the Health Law Section and member of the Investigative Panel); American Bar Association (State and Local Government Law section); American Health Lawyers Association; Georgia Academy of Healthcare Attorneys; Leadership Albany; Georgia Super Lawyers; Albany Rotary Club (Past President, Vice President and Club Secretary); and an assortment of local civic and charitable events and fundraisers.

I have represented a variety of clients and helped solve their problems and conflicts, and I look forward to drawing on this experience to help you.
